Living in Southern California definitely has its perks. Not only do we get amazing weather, but the music scene here is incredible. We have original bands from every genre and a tribute scene that is unrivaled. Being the only person in the Shockwave family in the area, I felt compelled to start sharing what we spoiled-Californians sometimes take for granted. The question then became, where to start? It must be something special. Well, ladies and gents, I present to you…XNO.
I was introduced to XNO back in 2014, and was immediately pulled in by their stage presence. They have the ability to make every person in the audience feel significant to the performance. Their power to bring people in gave form to a fan-collective dubbed the XNO Nation.
In 2016, XNO gave us their latest album, Last Ride. If you enjoy a good classic hard-rock album with songs that cover all aspects of life, then you need to check these guys out. The lyrics of Last Ride deal with topics such as: politics, death, and everything in between, including a song that reminds us “Freedom’s Not Free.”
As thought-provoking as the lyrics to the album are, the musicianship is just as stellar. Now, being a drum-fan (helloooo, Mike Portnoy tattoo over here) the double-bass and kick-ass drum-work on the album are enough to make me a happy girl, but with the phenomenal guitar solos, bitchin’ vocal and solid bass lines, there is really something for everyone to latch onto in the album.
Please take the time to check these guys out at any of the sites below and become a part of the ever growing XNO nation.
