Roll your windows down, because here comes that sweet, sweet fuckery sound! Hailing from the mean streets of the Motor City, Michigan’s own Wilson has taken the music world by storm. Recently signed to Razor and Tie Records, alongside bands like All That Remains, Nonpoint, and The Pretty Reckless, Wilson has already left their mark on the industry. Now, on their sophomore album Right To Rise, Wilson comes out swingin’ with their onstage antics and hard hitting rock ‘n’ roll sound.
Wilson has come a long way since their first album Full Blast Fuckery debuted in 2013. While their first album was more about the party scene, Right To Rise is a tribute to their hometown of Detroit. Chad Nicefield (lead singer) recently said of the album, “The record is the story of anyone who is struggling in general, and what they have to do in order to get by. The title says that we all have the right to find our happiness and grow. You can take our city as an example. You look at it from the outside, hear all of these horror stories, and see so many terrible things. However, when you’re inside, you can see the triumph. You need to make your own way here. No one will respect you otherwise.”
With songs like “Right to Rise,” “Windows Down,” and “Give them Hell,” the boys show you that not everything is what it seems. To one person, you may seem like an underdog, but with a little hard work and determination you can rise above and prove them wrong. Right To Rise is about working hard and having a good time. Chad went on to say, “This record is for the people out there who wake up everyday with one thing in mind, to survive…” These five guys from Detroit are living proof that with hard work and big dreams, you can overcome the odds and show the world that you’re not just an underdog, that there’s more to things than meets the eye. Be sure to catch Wilson out on tour with Halestorm this coming year over in Europe.
