WEAR YOUR WOUNDS UNVEIL SELF-TITLED FULL-LENGTH ALBUM IN ITS ENTIRETY
The solo project of Converge’s Jacob Bannon will release its debut LP this Friday, April 7th, from Deathwish – listen to it now on Noisey
“…boasts a bold, impressionistic sound with hints of drone and psychedelia. His delay-treated vocals drift in and out of the mix and guitars emote heroically in post-rock Pink Floyd fashion.” – Observer
Multi-faceted artist Jacob Bannon’s Wear Your Wounds project will release its debut full-length on Friday April 7th via Deathwish Inc. In advance of its release, Noisey is streaming the album, along with a conversation with “the patron saint of hardcore about his foray into raw, emotional experimental rock” – give it a look and a listen here.
Wear Your Wounds is the product of years of lo-fi solo recordings that have sat on the backburner until now. On this debut release, WYW, Bannon is joined by guest musicians Kurt Ballou (Converge), Mike McKenzie (The Red Chord, Stomach Earth, Unraveller), Chris Maggio (Sleigh Bells, Trap Them, Coliseum), and Sean Martin (Hatebreed, Cage, Kid Cudi, Twitching Tongues). Together they have created a powerful album that is unlike anything they have ever individually worked on. The album is comprised of ten emotionally heavy songs that call to the slower, more epic leanings of Converge, as well as Bannon’s previous work in Supermachiner. Wear Your Wounds brings to mind the dense multi-layered approach of Swans and early Pink Floyd, while being as vulnerable as influences Sparklehorse, Songs: Ohia, other like minded artists.
Wear Your Wounds will debut in a live setting on April 22nd at Roadburn Festival in The Netherlands as part of John Dyer Baizley’s curation. Find more information about this special Roadburn performance here. Wear Your Wounds live will feature Bannon joined on stage by musicians Mike McKenzie, Chris Maggio, Adam McGrath (Cave In, Zozobra, Nomad Stones), and Sean Martin. Wear Your Wounds have announced additional European tour dates which can be found below.
