“Motown,” also known as Detroit, Michigan has produced copious amounts of musicians throughout the years. Not all of them have had the success needed to stay afloat in the ever growing and difficult rise to the top. Proving that fighting for what you want rings true, the rockers in Wayland have powered their way to the top of the Detroit market, playing a ridiculous amount of shows (well over 500) in the past few years.
Their fanbase has steadily grown, as well as the sizes of the venues they are playing while on tour. Wayland, never officially releasing a “full length” record, will be bringing their Rinse & Repeat epic to light on September 22, 2017. It’s a highly anticipated piece that certainly needed to happen as this band is now well rounded and in circulation in many markets with their first single “Through The Fire.”
When listening to Wayland, you wouldn’t think they’re from a northern state with their southern “twang,” and “Christian” feel. It has a balance of crisp lyricism from vocalist Mitch Arnold and perfectly timed solos from guitarist Phillip Vilenski. Taking a crack into Rinse & Repeat, the well thought versing in “Ghost,” sets an example of established and seasoned veterans laying down passionate writing. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a huge fan of vocalists that mainly stay in high octaves, but Mitch does an incredible job at keeping my interest throughout the whole album.
With that being said, certain life changes can alter one’s way of expressing feelings, and Wayland hit the nail on the head with songs “Come Back To Me,” “All We Had,” and “Shopping For A Savior.” These songs all have unique intensity, which in turn pulls on what I feel are intricately placed emotional strings.
“Back To Life” is my go-to song on this album. It’s got everything I look for in a hit.The feel that the clean vocals have, followed by a killer guitar riff with dirty vocals, and more quintessential melodies, all have the makings of another single, if I were to judge it, of course.
In large, when looking for a new piece to add to the “Feel-Good” collection, the chance to grab Rinse & Repeat will be on September 22, 2017. Released by Mighty Loud/ InGrooves, this debut full length is sure to reach many hearts.
Wayland is continually gracing stages worldwide, so be sure to catch them on these current runs to hear some of the great work from the new release.
