Voodoo Circle is prepping to release their latest full length album, Raised on Rock, through AFM Records this February 9th. Classic hard rock is here to stay with it’s catchy pop hooks, rich vocals and jaw dropping guitar riffs. Fans of notorious 80’s groups like Whitesnake, Poison and Guns ‘N Roses will find appreciation and new found love with this album.
Before we get too far, can you just scroll up and look at that wicked cover art? I’m in love and I think all my skull crazed friends will understand. Founded in 2009 by Alex Beyrodt (Guitarist/Composer), Voodoo Circle has evolved through their first few albums. Raised on Rock brings new singer, Herbie Langhans to the stage. Langhans’ predecessor, David Readman, had what was considered a bluesier sound. A new vocalist brings a whole new and powerful dimension to Voodoo Circle.
“Running Away from Love” is the first single off Raised on Rock and can be heard through AFM Record’s YouTube page. Big, crunchy guitar riffs with soaring harmonies and a catchy chorus provide a solid foundation to the album. But, Raised on Rock isn’t just jamming rock anthems. “Chase Me Away” was one of my favorites on the album with its simple intro hooking me for a toned down ballad. Then there is “Dreamchaser” which allows you to sink into the perfect dreamscape with a Jimi Hendrix vibe. Power builds through the bridge until the close and is the song I’ll be replaying for some time to come. “Walk on the Line” goes back to the insane guitar riffs that are worth the album listen. The relatable lyrics will get you pumped up and ready to sing out loud for the chorus. Raised on Rock is the musical fuel the classic hard rock genre needs.
