Salt Lake City’s up and coming metal band Divisions packed The Loading Dock for their set while in support of Wage War on July 26, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Divisions have a huge local following and it is easy to see why when you see them live. These five guys give it all live and on a 95 degree evening outside while playing inside a literal loading dock the band did not slow down at all.
The band opened their set with the song “Set me Free.” The crowd moved forward towards the stage making room for even more metalheads. It also created enough room that during their next song “Awakening” a small but intense mosh pit started. The pit continued as Divisions scorched through “Transgression.” By this time the band is heating up literally, but the crowd was not slowing down at all. Next up for Divisions was “Memory,” and then they stormed right into my favorite divisions song “Lost Souls.” The vocal screams of singer Jimmy Cudahy are amazing in this song and that, combined with the harmony vocals of bassist Nate Hill, makes this an amazing song live. The band continued to blister the crowd as they screamed through “The Depth.” The band paused to thank the crowd soaked in sweat and lit into another favorite of mine “Return to Silence.” This song showcases Chris Suitt’s amazing skills on the drums and the song has some amazing guitar work provided by Nic Osterhout and Chris Darnell.
Division’s set was tight especially considering the temps were well over 100 degrees in the Loading Dock. The guitar work of Nic Osterhout and Chris Darnell led the charge while Chris Suitt’s drums were flawless. Keeping the rhythm going was the responsibility of bassist Nate Hill while Jimmy Cudahy belted out the bands vocals. If you ever get a chance to see these guys jam…do it. These guys are intense and real so bring your game face when you see them.
