Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown have carved themselves quite the following in recent years, from their hometown of Nashville to the world over and back again. I, myself actually stumbled upon these rock n roll mavericks at the British Summer Time Festival in London and I became an immediate fan. The band’s upcoming self titled release Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown on November third, will send shockwaves through your veins, without a doubt.
The album opens with the first single “Heartland” and boy, do the gritty guitars pack a punch or three! It’s soulful, spiritual and dirty number, which is accomplished with such ease. I advise that you hold tight, because this is going to be one hell of a ride. “Don’t Mind The Blood” comes in thick and fast with distorted guitars and robust drumming, while stimulating vocals hypnotise and envelope around every curve, for your absolute pleasure. “Jealous Me” follows with its hair-raising and seductive vocals, which lure the listener in to this edgy, twisted and captivating trip.
“Backfire” is up next and it struts in with so much attitude. It’s stomping and groove filled track, which certainly doesn’t backfire. Every sassy element slides into position as it comes together with such finesse. “Ramblin’ Bones” is utterly soulful, with it’s bluegrass guitar; the sounds give you goosebumps all over. It’s southern rock at its best and you will adore how its shines so bright.
“Weak And Weepin'” comes in rocking and doesn’t slow pace at any turn. Its pure rock and roll, which certainly doesn’t weep. Ascending guitars and strong drumming seduce the listener throughout. Its such a brilliant tune. “Manipulate Me” drives in with dark and manipulating sounds, which entwine and wrap themselves together to create a deep, layered and intricate song. Tyler has you hanging on every word that leaves his lips.
“Easy Target” oozes rock n roll through to its pores, as it harbours a great structure and shows off strong riffs throughout. This song definitely isnt an easy target and won’t be one anytime soon. Another solid track in the bag. “Magnetic Field” slows the tempo for this exceptionally stunning piece. It pulls you in and doesn’t let go, as the vocals reveal their true beauty. Simply outstanding.
Aftershock is next and it simmers with sultry, sexy and delicious tones, as it urges you instantly to move your body. It has this dirty swamp vibe to it, as the riffs take their hold. It’s an unmissable track. “Into The Black” sways in euphorically, as it brings this exceptional album to its close. It’s simple, yet undeniably out of this world.
This album is pure rock n roll from its soul, right down to its fingertips. Its the perfect escape from the world and allows you to feel free for a while.
So, sit back, relax and lose yourself in the music.
