Sons of Texas bring forth their second album Forged by Fortitude, which is due for release September 22nd via Razor & Tie. The band will be heading out on a worldwide tour in support of their latest offering throughout 2018.
“Buy in to Sell Out” opens the album with fierce, in your face vocals, and complete savagery. It’s a well built, vigorous, fast tempo, and melodic tune, which definitely is NOT a sellout. It makes you want to jump right into a mosh pit and head bang like never before. “Feed the Need” is full of rhythm, its irresistible and completely contagious from its funky opening bass riffs to its final chord. This song, without a doubt, feeds your need for it.
“Down in the Trenches” follows lead, as it smashes through and digs deep with fire and exuberance. The track doesn’t have any intention of backing down. It’s great inside and out. “Cast in Stone” weaves in with a harmonious intro, before tearing through with so much attitude and bite. A full-bodied sound, which is weighty, massive, and mellifluous all rolled into one.
A softer track follows and comes in the form of “Beneath the Riverbed” with beautiful vocals, and shows off a different sound. Yet, it keeps within the albums already set vibes and it fits in to the band’s puzzle with ease. “Expedition to Perdition” cranks the volume up with its thrash metal sound. It reminds me of a classic metal sound, yet remains crisp. This journey is full of speed and utter damnation for all eternity.
“Turnin the Page” brings a more relaxed notion to the table and harbors optimism, sanguine, and credence. It breaks through your demons and turns the page of your book. “Jaded Eyes” follows on strong and is full of might, while creating enthusiasm and pumping positivity through until the end. You will be reaching for the repeat button with this track.
“Wasp Woman” is full of groove. It’s fascinating and plentiful. An irresistible song to fall in love with at first sight, or first listen. Title track “Forged by Fortitude” comes in next, with grit, spunk and endurance, as it powers forward with a fast tempo that doesn’t slow.
“Slam with the Lights On” brings this adventurous journey to its end, with bluesy, heavy and provocative sounds that oozes sex appeal. Such a fun track.
Forged by Fortitude is an irresistible, full bodied, and gritty album. It’s pure pleasure to the ears.
Sons of Texas certainly know how to feed their fans.
