The first interview of the day Shockwave had at Vans Warped tour was with Kyle Bihrle, the singer of Sirens and Sailors.
Shockwave: Hey, Kyle. How are you liking Warped Tour?
Kyle Bihrle: It’s wet, it’s hot, it’s fantastic. I can’t complain. I don’t mind being dirty for once.
Is this your first time on Warped Tour?
This is our first time actually touring on Warped Tour. We’ve played a couple of random off days sometimes on Warped Tour, but this is definitely our first consecutive run on Warped Tour.
Have you been having a lot of fun?
Tons of fun! I’m exhausted, but it’s worth it.
You guys just released a new album, right?
Our new album comes out August 7th; it’s called Rising Moon: Setting Sun. It’ll be out August 7th in stores, on iTunes, and you can preorder it right now on MerchNOW.com. I’m really excited for everybody to hear it.
How long did it take to write and record?
It’s a long process. We started writing for it months ago. We wrote songs for a couple months, and we were in the studio for about a month. You know, getting our work and stuff together takes quite a while, so it’s been a process.
What were your biggest inspirations?
Well, I mean, everyday life is an inspiration for me, but I mean, I grew up listening to all sorts of music. My family is very music oriented. Everything from AC/DC to the Beatles, to the music style that I make.
What’s your favorite?
Band? Oh that’s the toughest question you can ask any musician ever. I mean, if I had to say one rock and roll band that was my favorite, it’d be AC,DC. That’s as rock and roll as it gets to me.
Is there anything you’d want to change about the band at all?
I love it exactly how it is. If anything at all, I would like to be a millionaire — nah, haha. I’m happy; I’m a happy person. It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s all worth it.
That’s good to hear. So when you’re on the road, it must get boring. How do you keep yourselves busy?
We like to make up a lot of random games with random objects just to keep ourselves entertained. Having your smart phone is a great way to keep yourself entertained a little bit. Going to check out new places you’ve never been before, you know, taking walks around the areas and sightseeing is always good, too.
Where’s the craziest place you’ve ever been?
Probably while we were in Europe, I’d have to say. I mean there’s so many crazy place in Europe that I’ve been, but that was definitely one of the craziest. That whole trip was the craziest things I’ve ever been a part of.
Was it your favorite?
My favorite place is my hometown.
Rochester, New York
If you could be a super hero, who would you be?
Out of all the super heroes, Spiderman was always my favorite. Just to have any super powers would be awesome. I dunno, I’m starting to love Star Lord a lot. I mean that’s huge. I don’t know, there’s too many, but I think Spiderman, I would have to say Spiderman.
What was your favorite song that you’ve recorded?
I could probably think of one for each album. Out of the newest album, I think my favorite song, or at least one of my favorites, is “Rising Moon: Setting Sun,” which is the title track. It’s just a very inspirational song, and it’s a little bit different than the rest of the songs on the album.
That sounds awesome. Well, that’s all the questions we have for you. Thank you for the interview.
Oh yeah, no problem!
