While LA may have laid the groundwork for Hollywood hair, glam and sleaze rock; Finland have their own batch of stellar rock acts.
Shiraz Lane from Vantaa, Finland have just released their debut album For Crying Out Loud, and it’s turning heads as it should.
The opening track, “Wake Up,” is glammy and fast, showcasing singer Hannes Kett’s gritty vocal style. The following track “Momma’s Boy” is very raunchy with heavy riffs from the dual guitar attack of Jani Laine and Miki Kalske. “Mental Slavery” features Hannes’ range with a higher and more piercing delivery. “Same Ol’ Blues” is the ballad of the album, stripped down but showcasing some fine musicianship. “Behind The 8-Ball” highlights the rhythm section. Bassist Joel Alex and drummer Ana Willman are synced perfectly and give a heavy, raw sound to the track. The album as a whole is quite exceptional and gives a nice nod to the 80’s hard rock sound.
Shiraz Lane has already picked up a number of awards in Finland and Europe and look primed and ready to hit the States. For fans of CRASHDÏET, Crazy Lixx, Santa Cruz and L.A. Guns, Shiraz Lane is your next must-get CD.
