Hitting the scene in only March last year, this 5-piece alt rock band from Bedfordshire, United Kingdom, have wasted no time throwing themselves into the industry. With sounds influenced by fellow UK bands such as Young Guns, Mallory Knox and Lower Than Atlantis, SEASONS are putting their own stamp on the alt rock scene. This hardworking bunch have been incredibly busy over the last 15 months. With 2 EP’s under their belt, several impressive music videos and 3 successful UK tours, these guys are determined to make themselves heard. SEASONS are growing, and it’s sounding awesome.
Their next single “8AM” is due out on June 24th, SEASONS are performing a special final show on their UK tour at Club 85, Hitchin’, to premier the new song live to lucky fans. Front man Grant Tuffs speaks a little about the new track:
“8AM has a lot of passion in it. It has a different twist to the normal SEASONS vibe! This is more about being in the bedroom and getting close, but keeping it on the down-low! I’m pretty sure there are a lot people out there who have experienced the things I’m singing about. This is the second track which was produced by Ben from Lower Than Atlantis. He is a really great producer to work with. Very chilled, and makes us a lot more relaxed. By far this is my favorite song, so far. It’s fun, it’s a bit more get-up and dance, but it still has that epic chorus! We are all very proud of it! Ben really brought this song to life. And As A Button Productions have brought the song alive further with the video. Making it a bit sexier, and hot!”
SEASONS will pursue writing new singles with the Lower Than Atlantis front man while continuing to push for booking agents and management. Tonight’s show was also filmed to go into their press kit for the industry. The unsigned band are focused on making it, and with the way things are going, their hard work will pay off. Club 85 was chosen for tonight’s live premier as it’s one of their favorite local venues, the big stage allows them to let themselves loose and give their fans a performance to remember.
Kicking off the night, North London’s Elswhere hit the stage with only a few bodies in the crowd. These guys didn’t let the lack of audience dampen their set though. Vocalist Ethan Smith soon caught the ears of those in the room, showing off his strong melodic voice while the tight catchy riffs soon had the crowd nodding their heads. Slowing it down for one song, Ethan had all eyes on him as he impressively belts out a ballad. A brave move for the youngsters, but it paid off and he had the crowd captivated. For those who came into the venue late, they missed out big time. I’m looking forward to seeing these guys again.
Next up, bringing some funk to the stage was Indi and the Vegas. This trio have just come back from Los Angeles where they worked on new tracks as well as playing some cool Hollywood shows. Indi and the Vegas fetch a different sound to the night’s line up, but this is welcomed by smiling faces and swaying bodies in the crowd. Now if he hasn’t already charmed you with his cheeky smile, Indi’s incredible voice will have you melting. Looking so natural on stage, it’s a real pleasure to watch and listen to. As more enter the venue, the room starts to fill up with people dancing along to the funky pop rock hits.
Continuing to warm up the crowd and last support of the night was Hollowstar, a 4-piece rock band from Cambridgeshire. Delivering some punchy tracks, the quartet brought some rock n roll to the stage. With a more 80’s rock sound, Hollowstar kept the younger audience enthralled with their impressive riffs and enjoyable tracks.
The venue is now packed with fans eagerly awaiting SEASONS to appear. There’s a tense and excited feel going around the room. With the intro to “Sailed Ships” being heard, SEASONS are greeted to the stage with excited cheers from the crowd. This track is from their first, self-titled EP, SEASONS and is one of my favorites. Straight away the energy from the stage is bursting into the audience, the party has officially started. Some additional smoke cannons either side of the drum kit made a more dramatic performance in this cosy loft venue.
Jumping straight into another great song from the EP, the guys blast out “Rumours.” Grant has a unique voice that suits well to the anthemic tracks. With the help of the crowd singing away, there’s not a body in the room that’s not moving along to the music. Continuing with the SEASONS party, the boys throw out some epic tracks from their second EP, What Goes Around, including “Rewind and Replay,” “When We Were Young” and “Last Words.” Their energetic stage presence brought a playful atmosphere to room, especially Bradley Beech. With no mic to keep him pinned, the lively Bassist made his part of the stage his playground. Slowing the mood down and giving the band a slight rest for a short few minutes, Grant brings some serious feelings to the room with a passionate performance of “Seven Years” from their first EP.
It’s now time for the song that everyone has been waiting for, “8am.” The catchy guitar riffs encourage some nodding heads before opening up to an epic chorus where Grant shows off his powerful voice. Although it had only been premiered a few days before tonight’s show, people in the crowd had caught the lyrics and were joyfully singing along. This is a great new single, and it’s a fun track to hear live. Ending their set with “Empire,” SEASONS go out with a bang. Literally. Confetti cannons shower the room with a mass of color as the crowd reach up to the ceiling. I’ve been coming to Club 85 for over 10 years now and that was the first time I’ve seen confetti cannons. Good shout by SEASONS. It was the finale that ended the set magnificently.
Spending time at the merch stand after their set, the friendly bunch are crowded with delighted fans who want to congratulate them on an awesome show. I highly recommend you give SEASONS a listen. Make sure you check out their new single “8AM” available June 24th.
