David Reece is back! The current Bonfire/Bangalore Choir and ex-Accept/Tango Down/Gypsy Rose/Wicked Sensation vocalist has returned to front the new self-titled release by Sainted Sinners. This is a brand new band which also includes keyboardist Ferdy Doernberg(Axel Rudi Pell), guitarist Frank Pane, bassist Malte Frederick, and drummer Berci Hirleman. Known once as the voice who replaced Udo Dirschneider in Accept, Reece jumped at the chance to front this band when he heard the music from his friend Pane.
The press release sums up the sound best; think Whitesnake meets Lynyrd Skynyrd, but that’s someone else’s opinion and not mine. “We’re All Sainted Sinners” is a perfect example of that press statement. The rocker “Evangeline” is not. That one is just pure rock with that Whitesnake meets Van Halen vibe to it. “Shine Diamond Girl” has that same feel. Reece’s unique voice compliments the music either way to a tee. The bluesy side of him is also well represented here as he sings “Truth Is a Lie” and “Maybe He’s Got Balls.” European bands that I listen to have that progressive, heavy, dark, power, or sleazy rock sound to them. Not these guys though. I was more than delighted to hear something new and fresh, and this was definitely it.
Look for the release out now on El Puerto Records. I believe you will like it, especially if you’re looking for something different.
