Only one year has passed since the Sainted Sinners released their highly popular self titled debut and now they return with their second effort Back With A Vengeance, and let’s just say these sinners do not hold anything back.
The first track “Rise Like a Phoenix,” at just under eight minutes long, doesn’t mean to mess around. It has a classic sound with prominent guitar work from the onset, and immediately feels like a weight is being lifted off as it rises above right before the tempo kicks it up a notch or three. It holds pace throughout, and as the sound rises, its wings open up, revealing a strong attitude, while being so majestic. It is an infectious, intricate and spiritual song with so much energy, and it makes sure it leaves a sweet after taste. “Burnin the Candle” is next and it is a grittier, edgy and deeper track. It is fiery, spicy and smokin’ hot. Every curve is filled to the brim and the guitar riffs stop you in your tracks. Your skin tingles with delight at this fun number which will make you move all night long. Some may say, burning the candle at both ends…
“Back With A Vengeance” follows and it shows off a different side to the band. Just when you think they couldn’t up the tempo any more, they do. It is fast, tight and full of attitude. This song is literally how vengeance sounds. It harbors funky undertones in parts, while teamed with heavier overtones which create a tasty relationship and definitely makes a mark. “Tell Me I Was Wrong” slows the tempo for a sexy, sultry number. The soulful vocals by David Reece stand out in the spotlight.. It is full of feeling, yet still keeps an edge. Plus, who doesn’t love an expertly executed guitar solo?
“Nothin Left to Lose” is next and brings the fiery attitude back with a classic sound, as the guitars weaves in and out creating an intricate piece of art, which dazzles so bright. The song gives its all and literally has nothing left to lose. “Waitin Till the Countdown Begins” marches forward without hesitation while radiating much strength. It represents a battles of sorts and attacking said battle head on without backing down. Such a great track.
“Let It Go” follows on with incredible vocals and exceptional guitar work. A absolutely solid track from start to finish. “When the Hammer Falls” is next and boy, it is edgy, meaty and full of body. It is so tasty you want to take a bite as seductive waves flow in, which you just want to ride. Every aspect is so tight and so so good.”Pretty Little Lies” follows with enticing sounds, seducing and enveloping around every inch of your body. A sexy number in which you can’t deny, as you crave it, need it and want to feel it. It is so naughty, its utterly delicious and you can’t resist the seduction.
“Gone but Not Forgotten” brings the album to a perfect close. A track to make sure you won’t forget, it leaves a mark for eternity. Tinted bluesy vibes seep through with so much soul, yet without diluting the rock sound. A great overall track.
Back With A Vengeance is full of personality and attitude; it has everything you want from an album and much more. It is definitely one to add to your record collection, so let the sinning begin…
