The now two-day festival took place in Chester, PA September 17th and 18th. It was so much fun! Mother nature was kind to all of us and kept the rain away, so everyone could enjoy every band they wanted to see. Set up on three different stages (two on the main field and one side stage), it was extremely easy to navigate and get to where you wanted to go. Complete with full service bars and all the Gourmet Man Food you could ask for, this festival was one for the fans, from the setup, to the lineup, to all the merch, food and drinks.
So let’s go over day one. Kicking things off on the River (main) stage, was The Word Alive. They set the bar high with their high-energy performance. Even though it was HOT, they really woke up the crowd and got things going. One of my favorite performances of the day was by Swedish metal band, Avatar. They never hold back on the theatrics and they sounded amazing, as always. Rounding out the day were huge bands like Motionless in White, Trivium, Buckcherry, The Cult, and Taylor Hawkins band, Chevy Metal. After it got dark, we closed out the day with The Offspring, Breaking Benjamin, and the one and only Alice In Chains. There was something for every rock and metal fan to enjoy. And this was only day one!
Moving on to day two, nothing like starting things out heavy with Death Angel, then moving on to some smaller but amazing bands like Devour the Day and Crobot. Crobot always bring the funk and the fun. Yet another day of jumping from stage to stage to catch bands like Sevendust, Hellyeah, Of Mice & Men, The Amity Affliction, and the list goes on. Pierce the Veil brought a huge crowd out to the Liberty (side) stage to close out that spot for the night. Then on to the day’s big names we had Chevelle, Volbeat, Slayer, and our headliner, Avenged Sevenfold. It was a great close of a festival to end with Avenged. They always impress with the vocals, guitars, fire and every other part that makes them so great.
This was really a cool festival. I was very impressed with everything. Danny Wimmer Presents sure has a knack for making people have a good time. You may have heard of some of the other festivals put on by them like Rock on the Range, Chicago Open Air, and Louder than Life. Be sure to get yourself to one of these festivals next year. I can only imagine they continue to be even better than the year before.
