Baltimore’s own Omnislash have put out a monster new album titled Slash’em All! and let me tell you, this disc flat out rips. Jeremy Phoenix and the band have made a beauty here, especially if you like it fast, hard, and loud. Phoenix’s vocals soar over each and every song like a winged creature looking for it’s next meal. The title track, “Metalliation Revengeance (Slash’Em All!),” might be my favorite as the guitars of both Jeff Russell and Nick Bernholz grab a hold of you on this one and take you on a nice, hard ride. And that’s only one song. “Nuke The Moon” is exactly what it says it is, penetrating drums and bass from Robbie Whiplash and Brian Forestiere caught my attention with this song before the guitars take over. From the first listen, “Not One Step Back” has that Exodus feel to it from back in the day. Again though, it’s the guitars that grab a hold of you and won’t let go. Very loud and prolific, you just want more and more of them. Wait until you hear “Gothenburg.” Catchy hooks and extremely 80’s in my opinion, it’s very melodic and has that classic metal sound. If you like the old school metal, this song is for you. “Blood Feud” makes you want to tear the skin off yourself it’s so heavy. I just can’t say enough about the guitars as here again they are up front and in your face, along with Phoenix and his voice.
I was only turned onto this band in the last five months and I’m wondering what the hell I was doing to have missed this band. Too much music, so little time, but no more. I did get to see them open for HammerFall recently to see the power firsthand of this up and coming band, and these guys are incredible live. If you have not heard of these guys and are looking for something new and fresh and in your face, this disc is just for you. I don’t grade my reviews of albums, but if I did, this would be very high on my list.
