Every now and then a girl has to get back to her roots. No, Mom, that doesn’t mean I’m gonna become “normal” and listen to country. What it means is I just need a little dose of southern rock. The kind that’s a little heavier than rock, a little lighter than metal and has a little twang thrown in. I got that dose the other night.
Nowhere’s Home, a local eastern North Carolina Band, recently opened for Blacktop Mojo. Whether they were covering ZZ Top, Stevie Wonder or playing one of their own, they did it in that southern rock style reminiscent of Black Stone Cherry, Skynyrd, or Nantucket. Just enough twang and southern to give a good dose of my NC roots.
I had the chance to talk to the guys before they hit the stage.
