Molehill is a delightful mixture of indie pop-rock with an alternative base, and I mean it in exactly that order. It’s just catchy enough to dance in the mainstream, but also displays the poetic nature the indie genre dominates; throw in key-work, whirling drums, and purring guitars and you’ve got the rock foundation of their new single “Hearts on Fire.”
Their single “Hearts on Fire” possesses the sound of a best-friend sing-a-long good time. If you’ve had a rough day and you just need some positive energy, I suggest turning the volume up on Molehill.
There’s a bit of trickery afoot, as this buoyant track masks a heavier meaning. “Hearts on Fire” may consist of upbeat vibrations that can make a breakup almost enjoyable, but the reality of the single is much more. “Hearts on Fire” reflects on political uprising. That disguised combination has been done by the greats, but it’s a difficult execution. Molehill has it.
Molehill is sunshine, with the heat of talent. They are the sound of spring coinciding with the renewed sense of being. Refreshing, honest, and lighthearted wisdom.
