Dead Atlantic is a band from Baltimore that if you haven’t heard yet, you need to. Now. Formed in 2013, lead singer BJ Hancock, bassist Ancil Hensley, drummer Kyle Zupko, and guitarists Sean Atlantic and K Vengence reminded me of In Flames on first listen. Hard, loud, and melodic, these guys can bring it. Previewing some songs that they sent me, I was more than impressed with the music. “Your Bones” is a two-guitar attack that is simply blistering. “The Massacre Is Real” is pure melodic metal bliss. “The Art of Insomnia” also has an incredible guitar attack like “Your Bones” but more melodic in my opinion. Hancock is a front man to be reckoned with too. Nicknamed ‘The Butcher of Baltimore,’ his vocals are extremely mind blowing. Mixing screaming and singing like something from All That Remains or In Flames, Dead Atlantic are definitely making waves and turning heads in the Baltimore rock scene. They recently opened up for Flaw back in July, playing a 30 minute set for a packed crowd. Their debut album titled “I Am The Wolf” is set to be released in the next month.
They have two shows coming up locally:
October 2nd opening for Venom, Inc. and Goatwhore at Baltimore Soundstage
October 20th opening for Motograter at Fish Head Cantina in Arbutus, MD
Dead Atlantic also have been selected as a finalist to play the Artscape Festival here in Baltimore, and on October 18th at the Hard Rock Cafe they’ll be playing three songs to showcase their talent. Please go out and support this band for this event.
