Maryland rocker’s Ignite The Fire just put out a new five-song EP titled Trial and Triumph, and this is a monster, folks. I’ve been listening to this album for three weeks straight, now guys, and it’s fantastic. Drummer Caelan Gregory and crew have made another great album.
“Criticize” starts off this EP, and it is powerful, heavy, and melodic, all wrapped in one. Lead singer Jack Gurecki has a set of pipes on him, that’s for sure, and this song showcases it. Is there a softer side you ask? Song five, the ballad “You,” fits this band like a glove. After hearing this song, I’m bewildered as to why this band is not signed yet.
“Over It,” is another rocker with penetrating guitars by Mark Quinn and Michael Nelson. Again, Gurecki’s voice carries this song over the harmonies and music perfectly. “Remember Me,” with Gregory’s bombastic drums all over this song, is my personal favorite. Very hard-hitting and a great rocker, it defines how good this band really is. “Breathe” completes the with five great songs on Trial and Triumpg. New bassist Holly Smith completes the lineup, and I look forward to seeing her with the band live.
If you have never heard of these guys, I cannot emphasize enough you need to check them out. Listening to them is a breath of fresh air and seeing them perform live is a completely different experience, as what you hear is what you get; a true rock-and-roll band who only know how to bring it 150%.
You can get this EP at their live shows and on their website.
