With winter melted away and spring firmly in hand, the concert season starts off with more than a bang; more like an explosion as the biggest 80s rock festival in the country rocks Merriweather Post Pavilion this weekend for the annual M3 Festival.
You wanted the best and you got the best; two days of big hair, torn jeans and tons of makeup begin this Friday as the weekend is hosted by Stryper frontman Michael Sweet. Friday, the Kix-Off, is co-headlined by Maryland legends Kix and Vince Neil as he begins life after Mötley Crüe, and featuring performances by Lynch Mob, Enuff Z’Nuff and Britny Fox with 86 Bullets and Gabbie Rae to set the tone.
Saturday has always been the big day with 14 bands playing for 12 hours, headlined by Tesla and Queensrÿche. Excitement has been building for months since the lineup was announced with Cinderella’s Tom Keifer receiving a return invite to the festival after delivering what most were saying was the best set of 2015’s show. Other big name performers this year are Faster Pussycat, Quiet Riot, Stephen Pearcy, Slaughter and Night Ranger. Every Mother’s Nightmare, Heaven’s Edge, Steelheart, Y&T and FireHouse have also been invited to melt faces and with the recently announced Guns N’ Roses reunion, original drummer Steven Adler’s band, Adler will be making their first appearance the event.
So, grab your leather jacket and your spandex pants and prepare for the ultimate festival and the debut of Merriweather’s rotating pavilion stage, and come out for a weekend to remember for a lifetime to the M3 Festival!
