After a steady climb to the top of the rock charts, Sick Puppies surprised everyone with the sudden departure of vocalist/guitarist and founding member Shimon Moore in October 2014. Bryan Scott has taken his place and the band released their 5th album “Fury” in 2016. Drummer Mark Goodwin and bassist/vocalist Emma Anzai seem to have taken a more prominent role in the creative process, and the result is a total team effort. As the album title suggests, there is quite a bit of anger, agression and angst in the music and the lyrical content. Sick Puppies is clearly a different band now, but it is more of an evolution than a departure. It is never easy to replace a key band member, but they have pulled it off and this album is as enjoyable and empowering as any of their previous releases. Make sure to catch their live performance on October 1st at Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY.
