I originally met and interviewed Lita Ford in 2011, and we hit it off big time, so any chance I get to speak with her or hear from her is a chance I take. Lita has served as an inspiration to many aspiring young, female musicians. Her perseverance still continues to inspire many today.
Lita, it’s great to see you out and on the road. How is this tour going?
It’s going really fantastic. Bobby Rock on drums, Marty O’Brien on bass, Patrick Kennison on guitar and vocals, all fronted by some hot broad on a B.C. Rich. We are rolling thunder. I couldn’t have a better band. (laughs)
Do you ever take a break?
Nobody on my team ever wants to take a break. But sometimes we have to have a day off to do laundry. (laughs)
What do you do when you actually have a moment to spare?
Laundry, play with my dogs. eat , sleep. Normal stuff.
Do you ever plan on “retiring?” (Please, say no!)
I hope to die on stage! (laughs)
What would you say has been your crowning achievement so far?
The Lifetime Legends Award from Guitar Player Magazine. Only four others were given this award: Les Paul, Joe Perry, Lita Ford and … one more, but I forgot with excitement.
I remember reading once, that “Close My Eyes Forever” came about “by mistake.” If you could make a mistake like that again, would you, and who with?
Oh geez ! Steven Tyler.
How often do you see your former band mates from The Runaways, or speak to them at least?
Once in a blue moon.
Are you excited for the KISS Kruise?
Is this your first time on it?
Yes it is. We are all thrilled. Love the KISS gang !
What’s up next after your tour?
A book in the spring, along with a new CD in Spring 2016. A deep dark, heavy, guitar slamming, beefy CD. I can’t wait !
Neither can I, Lita. Neither can I.
