Jimmy Eat World took their Integrity Blues Tour through Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 7th at the beautiful and brand new 20 Monroe Live. I hadn’t yet had the pleasure of seeing them live, so I was really excited about this one. They were incredible!
They came right out of the gate with “You With Me” off their newest album, Integrity Blues, and had everyone on their feet, even those up in the balcony. Then we fell back into our high school nostalgia when they delivered “Bleed American,” the title track from their infamous 2001 album.
The rest of the setlist was a great mix of old and new, and was outstanding. Like seriously, Jim’s voice hasn’t faltered with time. The rest of the band did great as well. It was very entertaining to watch. The production was spot on, the lighting perfect, and the stage looked great. There’s a reason these guys have stood the test of time and continue to be successful.
Jimmy Eat World ended their whopping 25 song set with “The Middle.” The show would not have been complete without it! It was such a cool thing to watch the entire crowd singing along and enjoy the night with friends and family.
This tour was exactly what is right with music today. Music should be meant to bring people together whether the music is brand new or 20 years old. That is exactly what happened here and I am proud to have been a part of it. Watching people of all ages enjoy a night out listening to incredible musicians is the most perfect way I can think to spend a night.
If you get the chance to catch Jimmy Eat World on this tour, do it! You will be blown away. They totally exceeded my expectations and left me wanting more even after playing for over 2 hours. Do yourself a favor and get your musical fix with this one!
