Well, this was a surprise release I didn’t know about. Jeff Lynne returns with his band ELO and a new live two disc set recorded at Wembley Stadium in London this past summer and it contains all of the hits we all know and love. “Evil Woman,” “All Over The World,” “Mr. Blue Sky,” and “Telephone Line” are all here just to name a few and Lynne sounds fantastic on it, especially at age 69. He also breaks out the hit “Handle With Care” from his Traveling Wilburys release. The 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Famers don’t put out albums a whole lot anymore but when they do, it’s great sounding ones like this. A surprise on this is “Xanadu,” which has never appeared on an official ELO live album. It makes the disc worth owning just for this.
Twenty three songs in all, Wembley or Bust just might be the last album we ever get from Lynne so don’t hesitate to go out and get a copy. He has also announced that next year, ELO will be returning to play the US for a limited run of shows and that hasn’t happened in thirty years so make plans to catch them if you can.
