Squealing guitars and solid vocals aside, The Euphorics were pretty ordinary. Guitarist Ted Merrill plays well but falls short on showmanship and backup singer Rachl Joss Ellen was unnoticeable at side stage. When she sang lead vocals, the inconsistent performance was a downer. To top it all off the drummer looked bored, almost asleep at the kit. My sympathy to the bassist who gave his all to entertain the crowd and make it a show. Too little and too late. If you're into solid musicianship you might like them but their show falls flat. Make your own choice whether to catch them next time around.
I can't really say that much about Under Command. Solid, synchronized playing with a good sound but still not a memorable performance. They do have longevity, it's true, and were playing material from their seventh record. Wish I could give them more. Uli Jon Roth is an amazing guitarist. From Germany and an early member of The Scorpions (he replaced Michael Schenker), he is known for his deep roots in classical music and love of Jimi Hendrix. He played with The Scorpions for four albums but left right before the release of their iconic live album Tokyo Tapes. He was not part of the major hits and mainstream success that The Scorpions had. You won't hear those tunes or even that kind of sound at Uli's show. Uli was an early contributor to what's known as neo-classical metal; his solo work is all about the musicianship. He also has his own series of custom guitars known as Sky Guitars. What makes this line so interesting is that it was designed to emulate the range and sound of a violin. A slew of solo records and a lasting impact on countless musician (including Kirk Hammett of Metallica), though, show his talent. A live performance by Uli Jon Roth is something worth remembering. A terrific talent and a nice guy, he likes to talk to fans after the show. He's a real pleasure to watch, for the sake of the music alone. |

My name is Marshall Stone, and I am the lead vocalist and bassist of The Euphorics, and I appreciate that you were able to make it out and write a quick, brief description about our part of this show. I understand your criticisms and I am going to work hard to make sure that we put on a better performance and make this the true definition of a show.
