Before Lzzy Hale, before Angela Gossow, before the girls from Vixen, there was the true metal queen, Doro Pesch. This woman has been rocking since 1980 and hasn't stopped. Her first band, Warlock, formed in 1982 and cranked out four albums. The album Triumph and Agony is one of those unsung metal classics. Doro's newest album, Raise Your Fist, shows no signs of slowing down. With guests like Lemmy and Firewind's Gus G. on this album, it just might be her best work to date. Two songs are sung in the singer's native German language, including the ballad "Engel." Even though I have no idea what she is saying, it is sung beautifully. Some of the more rocking songs are "Rock Till Death," and "Raise Your Fist (In The Air)." The best track on the album has to be the ballad, "Hero," dedicated to the late Ronnie James Dio. Many Dio song titles were worked into the lyrics of the ballad. This album is out on Nuclear Blast Records. Check out the true metal queen at Soundstage on February 5th.
