When I heard just the first few notes of “Highway Tune,” by Greta Van Fleet, before the rest of the world knew what was about to hit them, I hit pause and then rewind and I said out loud ” Who the hell are these guys and where have they been all of our lives.” I messaged their publicist back saying, I want more and what can I do to help tell the world? Well, it looks like the rest of the world had the same reaction, because these four young men barely out of high school (Danny Wagner and Sam Kiszka are seniors now) have taken the music world by storm. After the release of their debut album Black Smoke Rising, news quickly spread throughout the music industry and GVF has been going at it non-stop. Selling out shows, holding in the Top six in its 21st week on the Billboards US Mainstream Rock charts and gaining notoriety quicker then any artist I have ever seen in such a short time. Greta’s music reaches across genres and generations, packing in audiences young and old. With a sound that’s been compared to Led Zepplin and their 70’s style suave, some say GVF has brought back the heart and magic in rock “n” roll. I say, the rock is in their blood and the roll is in their soul. So I was honored for a chance to chat with the vocalist with the insane range and swagger for days, Josh Kiszka at Louder Than Life. Check it out below.
