If you haven’t heard of Greta Van Fleet by now, that rock you’ve been under must be quite comfy, because the rest of the world hasn’t just heard of them, they’ve gone insane for them. Completely bonkers, over these four young guys from a little town called Frankenmuth, Michigan. It hasn’t even been a year yet and they have signed to a major label, headlined and sold out of every single tour date, reached number one on the Mainstream Rock Radio charts, named Best New Artist at Loudwire Music Awards and the list goes on. Wait, I need to mention they have also been featured on Last Call with Carson Daly, listed in Rolling Stone’s “10 New Artists You Need To Know,”made it into The Wall Street Journal and pretty much every major music publication on the planet.
What’s all the fuss about? Well, Greta Van Fleet has just released From The Fires; a double EP, that includes the four songs from their successful debut EP Black Smoke Rising, and four brand new tracks that’ll set to stun, as you find yourself cruising down astonishment-street. After breaking out with their first single “Highway Tune,” it didn’t take very long for whispers on the wind to turn to screaming fans and the world’s need to know more about GVF. Since Black Smoke Rising was such a huge success, twins Josh & Jake Kiszka, brother Sam Kiszka and best friend Danny Wagner’s unequaled talent has catapulted them into the media’s spotlight. It was the next smartest move to make a follow-up EP to satisfy the demand for more and that is exactly what Greta did.
Like Black Smoke Rising, From The Fires offers up the groovy-rockalicious with the soaring vocal dynamics of the classic rock sound we all thought was entombed in the yester-years. But GVF brings it back with freshness and flair, like “Talk On The Street” and the “Edge Of Darkness.” But it’s not just all about getting the crowd hype and rockin it out, because From The Fires also doesn’t shy away from pulling at the heart-strings or shedding light on the not-so- happy of the human kind. Take the nourishingly harmonious “Meet On The Ledge” and the beautiful cover of Sam Cooke‘s “A Change Is Gonna Come,” as it rocks your soul with gospel composition.
So, I’m calling it now, like I called it before, From The Fires is headed for the top of the charts like Black Smoke Rising. I knew from the very beginning these guys were gonna bring back a sound that was merely remembered by those who lived in that classic rock era. They have not only brought it back to life but have reinvented it into a generationless, ageless genre. Rock “n” Roll lives and Great Van Fleet is at the helm. So for fans of the great classic rock, blues, grooves and pop, you will love Greta Van Fleet. And From The Fires will set you on an epic path of freedom, to live, love and make music.
