When Greta Van Fleet took to the stage the crowd just roared with excitement. They started off with “Highway Tune” from their debut EP Black Smoke Rising. This song has a great sound and wonderful vibe to it, so you know this will be an instant classic! You could feel the energy level rise to another level as the band played “Safari” & “Black Smoke” also off the new EP. The guys sounded so tight as they went from one song to the next, just kicking it out! The crowd responded with horns in the air and heads banging.
Josh Kiszka, lead vocals, has a stage presents about him that I haven’t seen in years, taking control of the stage and getting the crowd involved from the start. With painted marks on his cheeks, he looked ready for war, or in this case ready to rock! It was his voice however that won everyone over, a great classic rock sound he belting out tune after tune!
Josh is just one of three brothers that front this band. Sam plays bass guitar, and Jake plays lead guitar. Rounding out the band on drums is Danny Wagner. His drum solo showed off the talent he has on the skins.
Jake played like he was born with a guitar in his hands. He moved up and down that thing like a surgeon performing open heart surgery. He worked those strings like a true master, even playing behind his head like other guitar greats!
Being a young band you know they will grow and mature into one of the leading rock bands of our time. I can’t wait to see them again when they come to Philadelphia in the fall.
