Franky Perez, from Las Vegas, NV, is famously known as the current vocalist of Apocalyptica, as well as a former touring guitarist with Slash. This time around, Franky is out on tour with his new project, Franky Perez and The Truth, an amazing combo of young and seasoned musicians including the likes of Grant Fitzpatrick (bassist of The Cult).
Franky Perez and The Truth has a rockabilly sound blended with funk and features long guitar medleys, a cappella breakdowns, harmonica, bongos, and the keys. Can’t beat the vibe of this band. They have an indescribable flow that gives you goosebumps during the whole show. Their 40 minute set began with front of house sound issues, and Franky quickly stopped the show to make sure his fans had the best experience possible. Only after addressing the crowd in the balcony, asking “Can you hear me okay?” did he then began belting out an amazing vocal range with no help from electronics, just singing two or three verses. The crowd was in awe. You could hear the crisp sound as if you were in a small coffee shop with no one but you in attendance. The show was not complete without an amazing cover of Nine Inch Nails “Animal.” Franky stuck around after his set to greet his fans, take photos, sign autographs, and hand out samples of their new EP. If you want a good time, find their new EP on their website. Franky Perez and The Truth are currently on tour with Supergroup Kings of Chaos, and I recommend you find a tour date near you.
You won’t regret it.
