Russian metalcore…who knew. Vocalist, Roma Sadygov originally formed the St. Petersburg based band in 2011. Forget My Silence has undergone key lineup changes along with rebuilding. The band is now ready to climb new heights with Fall to Rise.
“I walk through pain. I walk through fire, water, changes. I fell from up high to rise above to the world, fall to rise.”
Forget My Silence present two visually compelling videos with “Fall to Rise” and “I See Hell in Your Eyes.” The last 40 odd views on each are from me, they provide strong visual ties to the album. Forget My Silence creates a story and sound that could easily fit amongst Queen of the Damned soundtrack titles.
Roma shows a diverse vocal styling alternating between screams, unclean singing, and then to a more melodic choice. His accent adds to the natural quality of his cleaner singing. “This is Only the Beginning” will make you repeat the intro just to hear the pitch his scream achieves. I was absolutely stunned. The track also introduces a synthetic counterpoint, providing a dark club feel.
No matter which track you happen upon, intense and dizzying guitar riffs are prominent. Guitarist, Elia Solonnikov, showcases his talent with blistering and memorable performances. “Virtual Privacy” inserts a bold, but not misplaced orchestral thread. This is also a track that highlights a more melodic quality without losing any of the harshness. Can anybody please tell me what the little “guitar hiccup” slide whistle move is called? “Virtual Privacy” focuses on the breakdown of humanity through technology and media. I found the song both relevant and heeding.
“Not Perfect” brings former guitarist, Ivan Gromov, onto Fall to Rise. Bitter, yet relatable lyrics make for a brash and unapologetic statement. “We Will” however, inspires a life well lived. Take life into your own hands, we must not waste it. Fall to Rise is set for a September, 29th release.
