Faster Pussycat made the way back into Maryland to put on a show for Brad Lee Entertainment and this time lead singer Taime Downe was able to perform. The band, which played the area in late April at the M3 Rock Festival, played that show without their famous front man because of a bad sickness and various lead singers like Jason McMaster of Dangerous Toys and Ted Poley of Danger Danger filled in and did an incredible job with the rest of the band.
The evening started with a band called Ryder, from Queens, New York, making their debut in Maryland from what I heard, and the crowd on hand made them feel right at home. An original band playing original music, they put on a nice set and I hope to see more of this band down here.
The Methmatics were next. This Baltimore band have played in and around the area for a while now and have some good punk intertwined with their brand of rock. Check them out if you are in the Baltimore area as they are fun to watch and listen to.
Chatterbox, another Baltimore local band, filled in for Korupt at the last minute and put on a nice show as well. I had seen them once before open for LA Guns and they put on a great show, but this time around they played longer and rocked it. I recommend this band to anybody looking for a really cool band to go and see.
Last Call Messiahs, making the drive up from North Carolina for this show, was one band I had never seen and was not disappointed when they went on. Nominated for one of the best bands in 2016 by the Carolina Music Awards, Last Call Messiahs play a brand of sleaze rock that the Europeans have perfected and yes, this band would give any one of them a run for their money. Look them up and check them out if you don’t know who they are.
Faster Pussycat came out next and played a hit infested set list that included “Cathouse,” “Number 1 with a Bullet,” “House of Pain,” “You’re So Vain,” “Bathroom Wall,” and “Babylon.” Downe sounded fantastic despite still being a bit under the weather. This once great glam band has survived a lot of scrutiny and turmoil with other former members over the years and it was nice seeing them perform even if Downe is the only original member remaining. They are still playing dates across the US so if you get a chance to see them, go and check them out.
