Time to break out the spandex and Aqua-Net, Enuff Z’Nuff is back on the scene with their latest album, Clowns Lounge; released December 2, 2016 on Frontiers Music. Although Enuff Z’nuff had more in common with acts such as Cheap Trick than a typical glam rock band, they will always be associated with that time where, let’s be honest, the guys were as pretty as the ladies.
With fans crying out for new material, Enuff Z’Nuff has answered the call. Clowns Lounge is an assortment of revamped demos and rarities. With the departure of original singer Donnie Vei, a few years ago due to health reasons, Chip Z’Nuff stepped up and took the mic for this one. With Vie’s full support Chip did an amazing job. His commanding voice stands out on such tracks as “Rockabye Dreamland” and “She Makes it Harder.”
Enuff Z’nuff stays true to their sound with an album full of strong, chugging guitars, and pop hooks that are sure to stick in your head. The album also includes some special guest appearances from the exceptional late Jani Lane of Warrant and James Young.
There are, of course, the obligatory guitar solos throughout the album that take us straight back to hair metal days. Clown Lounge is a solid collection of pop-rock songs given to us by, in my opinion, a very underrated group of musicians.
