Get ready for the pulse pounding and electric fueled sound of Ember Falls.
From the very beginning, I was intrigued by what I have heard and read about this six-piece band from Finland. Who are these rockers you ask? Well, they are Thomas Grove (lead vocals), Jay V (lead guitar), Calu (guitar), Brutal (vocals), Ace (drums and backing vocals), One of Haze (keys and backing vocals), and Oswald (bass). These are the men who make up the hard, electric infused, metal-core band known as Ember Falls. With their nomadic warrior makeup and outfits, you almost feel like these guys are from a post-apocalyptic era, and it’s badass.
I gave them a listen and what I heard was powerful modern rock/metal with clean vocals, heavy drums, powerful guitar slaying, and topped off with killer synth. One of the things I really like, and can be lost in some music, is they put emphasis on making sure the vocals are clean. I love this, as I believe nothing ruins a song more than lyrics getting drowned out by one thing or another.
Their first single, “Shut Down With Me,” was independently released on August 20th, 2015. Shortly after the release, they were signed by Spinefarm records/Universal Music Group and took off on their first European tour. They have released a few songs since then, like: “The Cost of Doing Business” and recently “COE”.
When I listened to their music, I was caught up and started jamming out. Everything about them falls right into the kind of metal I like. I can’t wait for the new album to be released. I would have to say “The Cost of Doing Business” is one of my favorite songs by them. With the open lyrics, “We’re Fucked,” you know you are in for an intense song and I assure you, they deliver.
I see good things for these guys in the future. They are currently doing shows in Europe, but hopefully after their new albums releases they will come state side. That is a show I will definitely be going to.
Speaking of their new album, Welcome to Ember Falls will be released on the 17th of February. I can’t wait to get a copy of the album and blast their music in my car with my windows down so everyone can hear them.
So, do yourselves a favor and check this band out. It won’t be a waste of your time. I guarantee it.
