Doro Pesch. Her name is well known in the metal world. How in the blue hell did it take this long for me to finally see her live? And in a small club to boot! I wasn’t going to complain. This being my first Doro show ever, I was looking forward to an all out great show from the ‘Metal Queen’ as she has been called and that is exactly what I got. “Earthshaker Rock” started off the evening followed by “I Rule the Ruins.” I was floored. Doro was in excellent voice for a rocker who has been singing for over three decades, not to mention the packed crowd was full of energy for her and the band. Warlock’s “Burning The Witches” came next and brought back many memories for me personally. Being a huge Warlock fan from back in the day, hearing these songs live for the first time was huge “fan” moment for me. Regular drummer Johnny Dee was missing due to the fact he was playing in his other band Britny Fox, so in his place was The Absence’s Jeramie King. To say he nailed it would be a huge understatement as he was dead on all night. Doro hammered out Judas Priest’s “Breaking the Law” as if it was her own, fan favorite “All We Are” rocked the Fish Head to the core, and “Revenge” off of Raise Your Fist (one of her better tracks off of it) sent the crowd home happy. But wait. She came back out for one more song. Now, bands usually choose a rocker for a final song but the Metal Queen decided to perform “Beyond the Trees,” a ballad off of Force Majeure which was different and perfect all at the same time. I hope to not take more than twenty or so years to see this rock legend perform again.
