I love all things Metal but there are times where I would like to take a step away from the Metal genre and listen to something a little more mellow. I consider myself the type of person with very eclectic taste in music and I feel I am willing to listen to any and everything. This band is easily in my top 10 favorite bands and I don’t see them going anywhere anytime soon.
UK’s Deaf Havana have released their latest album All These Countless Nights and quite frankly, I am hooked. There are things about this album that speak to me on a spiritual level and I haven’t stopped listening to it. It has a very Kings of Leon feel while keeping those thick undertones of the substantial bass with heavy drum pieces and they still manage to keep the melodic flow of the lead vocal.
Normally, it takes me a few tries to get into a band but the moment I listened to “Trigger,” I just had to listen to the rest of the album. The lead vocalist James Veck-Gilodi said in the press release for this album “it was one of the few songs where the words just came out of me as I put the pen to paper. It’s about me feeling alone in relationships and alone in life, reflecting on all the mistakes and things I had done wrong, yet too idled by laziness to do anything to change them. In the video, Ceci (the actress) represents me, being so close to so many people, yet feeling so far away and essentially remaining alone.”
Another song from this album I absolutely love is “Sing”. In a sense, it seems uplifting with its fast dancing tempo. Contrarily, the lyrics dive into a story of jealousy, but keeping to the positive vibe, he is looking to right his wrongs and make an impact on others’ lives as well.
I normally set my iPod to shuffle so I can keep my music fresh. Deaf Havana has found their permanent place in my playlist. They have everything I want in a band and I am so glad they have put out this album. Currently, they are doing a tour in the UK and I hope one day they will tour in the United States. All These Countless Nights is out now on iTunes, Google Music and DeafHavanaOfficial.com.
