In a surprising twist, clean and melodic harmonies can be found within each of the choruses, demanding these songs stay with us well after we’ve taken out our headphones. Don’t be mistaken, this is still very much a metal album. However, these Jersey boys have found a way to mix the heavy with the haunting, leaving the listener with a sense of hope and drive, not typically found in tracks such as these.
Hailing from New Brunswick, this band of four has a sound that is looking to shake things up on the metal scene, making a compelling case for this new sound along the way. They aren’t trying to just rattle what our perception of “metal” is though. Counterfeit Culture has a name that is a political statement in and of itself, and they have the lyrics to back that statement up. Challenging the status quo of what it means to be a part of a “culture,” the band asks us to think twice about what makes us, us. Not just as individuals though, but as a society too.
Their single “X” is streaming now, with the rest of the album dropping on August 1st!
