Following the successful EP, Death Deserves a Name, Can’t Swim is coming out swinging with their first full length album titled Fail You Again. The New Jersey band is comprised of Chris LoPorto (vocals and guitar), Mike Sanchez (guitar), Greg McDevitt (bass), Danny Rico (guitar), and Andrea Morgan (drums).
The first track that really caught my attention was “We Won’t Sleep.” It has a sound reminiscent of Motion City Soundtrack with an emo/anthem style chorus. It has a fun, party vibe and will make you want to play it over and over.
The following song, “$50,000,000”, is lyrically beautiful in my opinion. Considering this was LoPorto’s first try at songwriting, I think this song shows off his true talent. Talking about how we are forever wanting more is such a current and important topic in our generation. The playful guitars keep the song sounding light and very enjoyable.
Another lyrically sound song I found was “Kid.” I think sending a positive yet realistic message is so important and they absolutely nailed it with song. Saying time and again it’s all worth fighting for is something people need to hear and believe. I really dig this song and have listened to it several times now. I especially like the small breakdown before jumping into one last powerful chorus.
Overall this has been the most refreshing review I’ve done in a while. Packed with 12 awesome songs that make listening to the whole album a pleasure. Fail You Again is out via Pure Noise Records on March 10. Make sure you are waiting to grab your copy. You won’t regret it!
