Finnish power metal group Burning Point is coming back strong with their 7th studio album The Blaze, out January 20, 2017, on AFM Records.
This is the band’s first album of new material with former Battle Beast vocalist Nitte Valo. Nitte’s unmistakable, mighty, and melodic voice adds a fresh new element to the band that has been well-established in the power metal scene since the late 90’s. Her aggressive and raw vocals are exactly what fans were hoping her addition would bring to the new album.
Once again, all of the lyrics and music have been written by the amazingly talented Pete Ahonen, with the exception the bonus track cover of the classic “Metal Queen” by Lee Aaron. The Blaze gives listeners a wide range of songs with tempos varying from fast and mid-range, to slow and haunting, like “Lost in Your Thoughts” and “My Spirit.” The guitar duo, Pete Ahonen and Pekka Kolivuori, have yet again found a balance between heavy metal and catchy riffs. The dynamic drums, strong bass, and keyboard support round out the compelling melodies and metal feel of the album.
All in all, The Blaze is a well put together, melodic, power metal album that is sure to be a big hit with fans and a great addition to Burning Point’s catalog.
