Atlantic Records, along with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter have released The Hamilton Instrumentals, a companion to the Grammy Award Winning and 3x Platinum Original Broadway Cast Recording, is available now in stores, DSPs, and streaming services.
Miranda, Thompson and Trotter first announced the news during a special digital #Ham4Ham, where they also shared news of an authorized sing-along program that can be organized royalty free by fans around the globe. The HAMILTON: ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST RECORDING is executive produced by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, founding members of the Grammy Award winning hip-hop group, The Roots.
The sing-along program was made popular by gatherings in Los Angeles known as HAMILTUNES LA. The producers of Hamilton have authorized a free sing-along program for groups of fans everywhere to come together publicly and celebrate the musical. The production will provide a free license to use the HAMILTUNES name and logo to promote sing-along parties and events. Executive produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Craig Kallman, Riggs Morales, and The Roots’ Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson & Tarik “Black Thought” Trotter, “THE HAMILTON MIXTAPE” was an immediate sensation, rocketing to #1 on the iTunes Store’s “Top Albums” chart on its first day in release. “THE HAMILTON MIXTAPE” sees songs from the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical covered and remixed by a remarkable cast of contemporary artists. The stunning video for “Immigrants (We Get The Job Done),” was directed by Tomás Whitmore and executive produced by Robert Rodriguez and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The winner of the 2016 GRAMMY® Award for “Best Musical Theatre Album,” “HAMILTON (ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST RECORDING),” is available now in stores, DSPs, and streaming services. The 3x RIAA platinum certified album made a stunning arrival on the Billboard charts upon its initial digital release, coming in at #1 on the “Top Broadway Albums” chart, #3 on the “Top Rap Albums” chart, and #9 on the “Top Current Albums” chart. This impressive debut stands as the biggest first week sales for a digital cast recording and the second biggest first week salesever for any cast recording, behind only “RENT” in the Nielsen SoundScan era.
