Pasek and Paul will participate in a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” today at 5 PM Eastern. To join, visit www.reddit.com/r/music.
Last night, the show hosted a listening party for the album upon its release on its Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/DearEvanHansen/. The event included exclusive visual song commentary from Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, and Alex Lacamoire, which remains up on the page today.
DEAR EVAN HANSEN has drawn exceptional critical acclaim since its 2015 world premiere at Washington, CD’s Arena Stage. March 2016 saw the original musical begin its record-breaking Off Broadway run at the renowned Second Stage Theatre followed in December by its long-awaited opening at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre. A “gorgeous heart-breaker of a musical,” wrote Charles Isherwood of The New York Times. “It should also appeal to just about anyone who has ever felt, at some point in life, that he or she was trapped ‘on the outside looking in,’ as one lyric has it. Which is just about everybody with a beating heart.” “DEAR EVAN HANSEN is the best new musical of the year,” declared The Wall Street Journal’s Terry Teachout. “Smartly crafted, emotionally open-hearted and ideally cast, it’s a new musical that has been embraced by millennials – yet its appeal is universal.”
A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he’s always wanted: a chance to finally fit in. Both deeply personal and profoundly contemporary, DEAR EVAN HANSEN is a new American musical about life and the way we live it.
The cast of DEAR EVAN HANSEN includes Obie Award-winner Ben Platt, Laura Dreyfuss, Rachel Bay Jones, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Mike Faist, Michael Park, Will Roland and Kristolyn Lloyd, and Michael Lee Brown, Garrett Long, Olivia Puckett, Colton Ryan, and Asa Somers.
